Hands-on engineering leadership

I led a team of three SREs, owned the roadmap, and kept writing the infrastructure. The engineer I mentored now leads migrations of his own.

Evidence

  1. Led a team of three SREs — set priorities, ran planning with product owners and management, and owned the infrastructure roadmap.
  2. Grew a career changer from IT support into a CKA-certified platform engineer, who went on to lead the monolith migration to EKS himself.
  3. Carried the platform, the on-call rotation and roadmap delivery as sole senior SRE, leaning on automation and AI-assisted workflows to absorb the load.
  4. Lead production incident response and post-incident review, and act as the on-call escalation point for every infrastructure and cloud incident.
  5. Run the platform as an internal product — prioritised with the engineers who depend on it, rather than for them.
  6. Changed how other teams work, not only what the platform does: opening a client’s infrastructure repository to product developers, with every change going through pull-request review.
